Countdown Day 25: Fear Within
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
(1 John 4:18)
Love does not lead to fear; it leads to faith and hope. If we're consumed by fear, we're not truly loving. A perfect love casts out fear... It soothes and uplifts, never frets and scares. Why? Because "fear hath torment." Torment: severe physical or mental suffering. Fear hath torment; love does not. Perfect love will not cause us suffering, because a perfect love involves a perfect knowledge of a loved one's identity. We know who they are, what they're capable of, and how much God cares for them. If we understand that last point, we won't feel that torment. When I've lost loved ones, I wasn't tormented. I knew where they were going, and I knew what would happen to them.
Above all, I understand that Christ loves them even more than I do.
