Redeemability - Irakura
my thoughs on Irakura.... he could swing either way. He knows that he does 'bad things', he just believes they're necessary. In his words, "we all have things to protect." His "thing to protect" is Norea, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to protect it from what he percieves as threats. Irakura isn't a terribly mean jerkface, he just sees a lot of good actions as too weak, or not effective. He's a bit justified in his thinking, as the people of Norea as a whole have been growing darker and darker... but there have always been beacons of light for those people to flock to. Just look at Canon, or Atsura. If Irakura could be convinced that Norea is safe, and that her people are good, i believe he would abandon his crueler tactics.

Apologies~
Sorry about the whole "no posts for a very long time thing." i was working on a post today about the Kachyu, but realized i need all my notes to finish it. Which i do not have with me. However, tomorrow You will be recieving several new Norean History Lessons, and, who knows, maybe something else. In the meantiem, carpe diem.

Future Plans
i know that this probably maybe won't be so much fun for some of You. ;_;
But! This is as much for me as You. i'd like to set out some of my short-term future plans.
But! This is as much for me as You. i'd like to set out some of my short-term future plans.
- i intend on continuing my Norean History Lessons. There are several eras i have yet to cover, spannign about 200 years. Most of what's in these lessons will be new material, using a few references from chapters that You may or may not (meaning future, unpublished chapters) have seen. It's already written out on paper, it's just typing it out now.
- i am going to continue posting chapters. The only problem is, deciding how to write them out. The summaries are kind of cheap, You and i know that, but it's tough to type them out on the spot. -_- i'm also experimenting with legitimate writing styles. If i had an artist to work with, i could make it a pretty manga... but that won't be happening anytime soon. :'/
- i'm also going to post my thoughts on Irakura's redemability very soon.
- Start plotting out Sanyuta's backstory! It took me about .717 seconds to decide i'm incorporating the Kachyu backstory.
- i'm working on a chapter (it has no place chronologically really) where my Norean History Lessons find a way into the plot.
- i'm also planning on posting The Conditions of Canon's Birth which functions as a sort of mini-arc, detailing... the... er... conditions of his birth.
Saving Graces
i love the idea of a saving grace. Not as an excuse for making mistakes, but as a step stool to help You up the mountain of fixing that mistake! Ahaha. But seriously, it's an interesting concept. Despite whatever bad there is, there's still that one thing that invites doubt before You judge... that little thing that can help one make up for what they've done. But yeah. You probably get the point. This is just my little thought about that, the point of this post is to continue my ponderings about Irakura and Sanyuta's redeemability (is that spelled right? is that a word?? i think so...).
~Sanyuta~
i'm at that stage of consideration now. You know, about Sanyuta's backstory? Yeah, i'm at that point where i'm going to do it, it's just a matter of coming up with everything. Fitting in with my comprehensive timeline (which i'm still psyched about!) i'm seriously considering also doing a complete history of the Kachyu Clan, to tie in with Sanyuta's story. Anyways, back to the original thing here. Redemption.
Sanyuta is a good person. He is a moral person, he is kind. He likes little kids, thinks puppys are cute, and donates to charities. Really, Sanyuta is an exemplary person. He has a bit of a temper, but it's the kind that acts up when people he cares about are injured. i'd always intended to portray Sanyuta as a very honorable, good person. To me, i completely failed in that regard... that was supposed to be the conflict in the first chapter. Kinda a real drag, failing in Your first chapter. Anywho.
Sanyuta just needs to stop idolizing Irakura. After that, he'll be in a prime spot for being a good guy. If he's alive. The only issues are that... Sanyuta is Irakrua's number one fan. Destroying his loyalty is very difficult, harder than it is to earn it.

Norean History Lessons - The Ancients' Rule
i have at last completed a comprehensive timeline for my story, prompted by my work on The Conditions of Canon's Birth, which focuses on his parents. More on that soon! The first section, the "in the beginning" is the Rule of the Ancients.
The Rule of the Ancients 605-205 B.I.R.*
Dating back to 605 B.I.R. the people of Norea were servents to the Ancients, of whom little is currently known. The Ancients had a thriving civilizattion, and many cities. After their decline, the historically significant city of Arakunea would be the only one remaining.
The people of Norea humbly accepted their servitude for 300 years. Then, in 305 B.I.R., the "War of the Ancients" began. It is unknown who the combatants were. It may have been Ancients battling each other, or Noreans rebelling against the Ancients. It is only known, that after 100 years of war, the Ancients vanishe d, leaving behind a single city, and a few scattered artifacts.
The people of Norea were at last free, and, reluctant to be at another beings mercy again so soon, opted not to form a cohesive government, instead allowing each village to rule itself. In the end, this would lead to more pain and bloodshed then they could've imagined...
*Before Irakura's Rule. Years are measured by this. After Irakura begins to reign, it changes to S.I.R., Since Irakura's Reign. The story begins at 1 S.I.R.
EDIT: Btw, happy 100th post. Consider this a present. xD

Redemption
"Kill me, and become a hero, or die at my hand and become another one of my victims!"
~Sasuke Uchiha.
Redemption. Something that tends to be important.
Very important.
It has a huge role in the superfamous manga/anime Naruto, from which the above quote is featured (chapter title: Near... Far... episode name: Two Fates).
Naruto believes in redemption. It's what saves him, and what drives him to save others.
(For those of You familiar with Naruto, You may skip this next paragraph)
Naruto, from a young age, is despised in his village of Konoha because he is the container of a sealed demon (i highly recommend learning more, this is a short summary. Naruto is an excellent series). His youth is lonely, but he begins to form bonds with people when they see how strong he truly is. He is, in his own words, the number one hyperactive loudmouth knuckledheaded ninja. He dreams of being the Hokage, or head ninja in his village. Despite the fact that many hate him, he continues to be a bright cheerful person.
Naruto understands pain. He grew up with it. It's ever present in his world. But, through his bonds with others he was redeemed. Instead of hating everybody back, he set out to prove them wrong (see; Subaku Gaara, Uchiha Sasuke).
And prove them wrong he does. There are various times that his philosophy of life, and his understanding of pain allows him to redeem his opponents, instead of killing them (for notable instances see; Momochi Zabuza, Haku, Nagato, Konan, Hyuga Neji, Subaku Gaara). This culminates in his saving of the village, when he becomes a hero. He continually gathers more friends, and does his absolute best to save them, sacrificing everything he can. That's why Sasuke will always be his greatest failure.
Uchiha Sasuke. The most dynamic character of the series, he began as Naruto's teammate, willing to give his life to save him (example: within Haku's icemirrors) and ends up swearing to kill him (see above quote).
While Naruto relies on his bonds for strength, Sasuke relies on his hatred of bonds. (To be honest, i believe Sasuke is truly insane at this point int the manga). Sasuke's world revolves around avenging his slain clan, of which he is the sole survivor. He has an extremely high body count at this point, and is known to attack ally and enemy, even betraying his own team Taka to get closer to his revenge. When Sasuke first left the village, Naruto swore to bring him back, to save him. Every time Sasuke delves deeper into the dark, it just hardens Naruto's resolve to save him. He will stop at nothing to save him.
"Kill me... or become another one of my victims..."
To that, Naruto only has to say, if we die, we go together (paraphrasing). He continues to state that they are at a level where they are the only ones who can battle each other, and at the end of that battle, either both or none of them will die. Sasuke's response? 'You're the only one who will die at that battle'.
The point of this long winded monologue? Redemption. Everybody, everybody else has given up on Sasuke. Except for Naruto. He will never stop trying to save him. But... is that the right thing to do? Every moment between their final confrontation and that moment is another moment he could be damaging another's life. Is it right that Naruto allows him to live? Is it? Can Sasuke be redeemed, or is Naruto just prolonging pain by staying in a state of denial? i don't know. i suspect that only Kishimoto Masashi, the author of Naruto knows.
To tie this in with my own story, there are several characters in need of redemption. The question of "can they be redeemed" stands just as validly for them as it does for Sasuke. The main candidates in the redemption catagory are Sparrow, Sanyuta (when living(i do sweem unable to decide if he's dead or not. Your opinion?)) and Irakura. Each has positive and negative things going for their odds of redemption.
Sparrow: He was a hero. Then, he became a terrorist. It's hard to say he can be redeemed, because of how he fell. It's his mentality. Yet, at the same time, having been a former hero can help him on his path to redemption. It's really all about if he thinks he's fallen or not. He doesn't think so. Convincing him he's one of the bad guys is the first step to saving Sparrow.
Later, i'll discuss Irakura and Sanyuta in depth.

We're So Starving
"Oh,

We're so sorry we've been gone,

Oh, how it's been so long

Don't have to worry 'cause we're still the same band [writer].
You don't have to worry, You don't have to worry, You don't...

Anticipation's on the other line, and obsession called while You were out.
Yeah, it called while You were out!)
